Eretria IX
Kristine Gex, Red-figure and white-ground pottery (in German)
The subject of this study is the red-figured and white-ground pottery discovered in Eretria between 1964 and 1982 in the excavations of the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece. The author also draws a picture of Eretria in the Classical period based on her study of the pottery. The chapters on the necropolis and excavations where these types of ceramics were found are fundamental to the understanding of ancient Eretria. Issues related to the origin of this pottery and to the definition of the local production are also discussed. A detailed catalog and a rich illustration conclude this work.
